Sept 26-30 & Oct 3-7

I can't believe how fast September went by. The kids started swimming lessons the first Saturday of October and they both enjoyed it. BigH will be camping up on Seymour Mountain with his Wolf Cub troop.

For language arts over the last two weeks we've been concentrating on reading silently and out loud. Henry has been reading the CLE book We Live (primer series-book 1) and In A People House, by Theo. LeSieg. We Live is easy for him to sound out the words, there are some sight words in, In A People house like:what, there, like, that, and come. That are also in HOP. We BigH and I have been working on the sight word flash cards and initial consonant sounds from the weeks prior. I've also been getting him to choose sentences out of his reader to copy down for print work. With LittleE she has been reading a varitey of DrSeuss books for me I've been getting her to choose a sentence and to copy it down for print work. She has been working on two sets of initial consent sounds. I believe I listed the new sounds a post or two ago. She two has been working on sight words. They both have been working diligently on their cursive writing practice Big H is up to p. 19 in the red book HWT learning how to cursive write the lower case t and join it with other consonants and vowels to write words like, at, hat, that, and catch. LittleE has been working very hard in her book we are on p. 8. The book progressive along quite quickly and she's trying very hard and doing a pretty good job, but I'm thinking I should get her the same book BigH is using because there is more practice and build up to writing words and sentences.

We have completed Lesson 47 in First Language Lessons we are still working on pronouns so far we've covered the pronouns: I, me, my, mine, you, your, yours, he, she, him, he, it, his, hers, its.

I don't think we've done any calender time in October yet! But they did finish the weather graph for Septembers cloud cover. The results 11 days of clear skies and 6 days of low status clouds and 1 day of high cirrus clouds. This is based on the only days we noted the cloud cover.

For math BigH is completed up to 16C Beta and is working on thousands and place value notations. LittleE completed 13A Alpha and is doing much better this year then last. We continue to go over her double + table and the 8+ and 9+ tables. She's humming along. This Saturday we will be going to a Rabbit festival in Vancouver and LittleE is very excited she will be bring her Bun Bun to learn more about rabbit care and get a vet check by donation. We will post pictures next week.

This has been hard week we learned that our wonderful homeschooling mentor lost her husband we have met them several times,  Kim was such a great and interesting person. We mourn with her in her loss. Relieved to know that Kim is heaven bound it's been a learning opportunity for the children to know that life sometimes does not go the way we plan it. God's in charge we love you Holly xoxo
